FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What is the difference between NEORETIN, Tretinoin, and Hydroquinone?
Tretinoin is a retinoic acid known for its efficacy in cell growth and antiaging properties, but it is also associated with unwanted effects, including skin irritation, peeling, redness, and burns. Although it is effective for many people, it is not necessarily suitable for everyone.
Hydroquinone is a skin-bleaching agent used to lighten patches of darkened skin by decreasing the number of melanocytes (melanin-producing cells). While Hydroquinone is generally well-tolerated over short periods of time, it cannot be used in the long term as it may lead to serious side effects, most notably development of exogenous ochronosis (blue-black pigmentation).
NEORETIN is able to achieve the efficacy of Tretinoin and Hydroquinone without causing their associated side effects. It contains patented RetinSphere® Technology that uses two stable retinoids: (1) hydroxypinacolone retinotate (retinoic acid ester), the closest chemical form to retinoic acid for high efficacy sans the side effects, and (2) retinol in glycospheres that penetrate and work in the deepest layers of the epidermis. NEORETIN also contains 9 other depigmenting active ingredients, including niacinamide and kojic acid, which target the full pathway of melanin production. Furthermore, NEORETIN has been proven to be well-tolerated in clinical trials, making it suitable to be used in the long term with no known side effects.
2. What should I be aware of when using NEORETIN Serum Booster Fluid?
Your skin may be slightly more sensitive to the sun, so it is important to limit sun exposure and do the necessary sun protection.
In the first 2 weeks, you may also experience a reaction called retinization: your skin becomes dry, itchy, red and feels like it is burning. This is a sign of your skin adjusting to the retinoid treatment and is especially common in those who are using retinoid treatments for the first time. While skin retinization is normal, you’re advised to consult your doctor in cases of severe skin reaction.
3. Can I use NEORETIN Serum Booster Fluid before and after laser procedures?
NEORETIN Serum Booster Fluid is highly recommended for use in combination with laser procedures to prevent development of new pigmentation spots and maintain a bright skin tone. However, extra caution should be exercised to prevent unwanted side effects.
For ablative laser procedures, you should temporarily stop using NEORETIN Serum Booster Fluid 14 days before the procedure. Resume application 14 days after procedure or when your skin recovers.
For non-ablative laser procedures, you should temporarily stop using NEORETIN Serum Booster Fluid 14 days before the procedure. Resume application 7 days after procedure or when your skin recovers.
4. Is NEORETIN suitable for everyone to use?
NEORETIN is not recommended for pregnant or lactating ladies. Pregnant or lactating ladies should exercise caution and consult a doctor before using any topical products formulated with retinol.
